TEAM QUOTES:
AJ Allmendinger's top-10 run was derailed in the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway Saturday night when two cars above him made contact and bounced into him sending his No. 47 Freightliner/Miller Welders Chevrolet SS sailing hard into the inside retaining wall. He was not able to finish the event, but was credited with a 20th-place effort. Jamie McMurray won the race .
“All-Star race, that’s what happened out there tonight,” Allmendinger said. “That caution flag the guys behind me got new tires. Greg Biffle had four new tires and made a big run on the outside and kind of stuffed it between Brian Vickers and the wall and bounced Vickers off into me. I was kind of an innocent bystander. It is frustrating, but it’s the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race and I would have done the same thing. You've got to go when you have got to go.
“We have to take the positives from Saturday night and we learned a lot,” Allmendinger said. “We made it from the Showdown into the All-Star race. I mean we raced our way in, which is pretty cool. Man, we were fast out there.”
“I just want to thank Freightliner and Miller and all our partners for being on our Chevrolet,” Allmendinger said. “Also, I’m just really proud of my guys and that’s everybody on this No. 47 JTG Daugherty Racing team. We don’t have many bullets at the shop, but my guys are going to work hard and come back strong next weekend for the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.”
“We will bring another good piece and remind ourselves of all the positive things that happened,” Allmendinger said. “It was fun while it lasted. “I just can’t thank Tad and Jodi (Geschickter) and Brad Daugherty enough for this opportunity.”
